OceanaGold Provides Drill Results from Wharekirauponga Project in New Zealand

08:07 AM EDT, 09/24/2026 (MT Newswires) -- OceanaGold (OGC.TO) released the latest drill results from the Wharekirauponga project located near its Waihi operation in New Zealand. Results from Wharekirauponga include some of the highest-grade intercepts reported at the project to date, the miner said Thursday. Results from the East Graben vein include 6.3 meters at 97.2 grams per tonne (g/t) gold, and 8.5 m at 41.5 g/t gold from 399.0 m. "These results confirm further continuity and up-dip extension of the southern high-grade zone which currently lies outside of reported reserves, therefore representing outstanding conversion and growth potential," Chief Executive Officer Gerard Bond said. OceanaGold also outlined its plans for the Waihi North project, including a project to expand the processing plant's capacity to 1.2 million tonnes per year. This would support the continuation of mining at the Martha underground mine and mining at the Wharekirauponga underground mine, which is scheduled to start production in 2032, the company said. OceanaGold plans to release a technical report on the Waihi District in January, 2027.
