According to sources familiar with the matter, Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC) has informed some Asian refiners that crude oil supplies from certain offshore fields may be delivered via a newly constructed pipeline starting early next year, helping the company bypass the currently congested Strait of Hormuz. Sources said ADNOC indicated plans to begin supplying some Upper Zakum crude from the Fujairah terminal to long-term contract clients starting in early 2027. This crude is produced from fields in the Persian Gulf. ADNOC stated in May that the company is accelerating construction and that the pipeline will be completed next year, but offered no further details. Under annually renewed long-term supply agreements, crude oil will be delivered in Fujairah. This means buyers can ship crude oil without dispatching tankers through the Strait of Hormuz, which is still facing Iranian attack threats.
