Inflation Surges as the Fed Faces a Tough Choice: Are These 4 Altcoins Worth Buying Now?

  • Rising CPI and PPI readings could complicate the Federal Reserve’s decisions on interest rates.
  • The FOMC statement and press conference may influence bond yields, the dollar, and cryptocurrency prices.
  • Altcoin risks remain as LINK, DOGE, HBAR, LTC, and DOT could experience volatility regardless of their individual developments.

The cryptocurrency markets are nearing a significant watershed as inflation pressures grow, making it tougher to predict the Federal Reserve’s policy. Investors could watch a wide array of altcoins like Chainlink (LINK), Dogecoin (DOGE), Hedera (HBAR), Litecoin (LTC) and Polkadot (DOT) as the Federal Open Market Committee (FOMC) makes its next decision.

One of the key issues prior to the meeting is inflation. Consumer Price Index (CPI) now at 4-month high, Producer Price Index (PPI) at 4-year high says supplied market commentary. The changes in these developments may make the next Fed policy signals more important for financial markets. Nearly double the central bank’s 2% inflation target would make the task of keeping inflation in check a challenge while trying to achieve economic growth.

The market’s primary issue is whether policy makers will keep the interest rates low, indicate that they will raise further or give better clarity on their future policies. When it comes to cryptocurrencies, more expensive loans might lead to a decrease in demand for speculative investments, as cash and interest-bearing assets become more appealing. But future policy expectations can also impact prices prior to any rate change.

The actual result will be determined by the decision the Fed makes public, the economic forecast and the Fed’s press conference. The five below are all altcoins with unique use cases, but still affected by the general activity of the cryptocurrency market. Their appearance does not indicate there is an undervalue or that they are likely to appreciate over time.

Chainlink (LINK) Faces Pressure From Interest Rate Expectations

Oracle infrastructure by Chainlink allows connecting blockchain applications to external data. This service’s demand could be affected by the decentralized finance activity and the adoption of blockchain in general. But investors decreasing their holdings of riskier assets could weigh on LINK as the Fed delivers a hawkish message. Overall market liquidity and network developments will continue to be key considerations.

Dogecoin (DOGE) Remains Sensitive to Risk Appetite

Dogecoin’s price is a meme-based crypto whose price can swing by a wide margin based on speculative demand. A higher interest rate could dampen the appetite for risk and could impact on DOGE in times of market uncertainty. A wide-reaching recovery of cryptocurrencies may be beneficial to sentiment, but social interest and market activity will not necessarily help prices move higher.

Hedera (HBAR) Depends on Adoption and Market Conditions

Hedera offers distributed ledger technology solutions for applications that deal with transactions and digital services. Network usage, enterprise related developments and needs for HBAR’s ecosystem may influence HBAR’s outlook. In times of financial constraints, even good project information may be enough to get the whole lot of sellers on the field.

Litecoin (LTC) Tracks Broader Cryptocurrency Trends

Litecoin is a well-known cryptocurrency that is intended to be used for peer-to-peer payments. It can react to the changes in the direction of Bitcoin, its liquidity and investor sentiment. The market may have a broad recovery underpinned by financial conditions easing, but may be held back by the persistent inflation worries.

Polkadot (DOT) Watches for Changes in Market Liquidity

Polkadot enables different specialised blockchains to communicate with each other. It will be determined in some measure by adoption by the ecosystem, developer activity and demand for its technology. A tighter monetary policy could make DOT’s job harder and better risk appetite could lead to renewed interest.

The most reliable warning signal in the US stock market has lit up! After flashing twice in history, both times were followed by a major bear market

The quality factor QMJ, which has tracked the US stock market for nearly 70 years, is issuing a rare warning. In July this year, the indicator posted its largest single-month gain of 14.3% since 1957, as the long-running outperformance of junk stocks over more than two years was suddenly reversed. Historically, similar sharp reversals in QMJ occurred during the bursting of the internet bubble in 2000 and the financial crisis in 2008.
