01:29 PM EDT, 10/26/2026 (MT Newswires) -- (Updates with index/price moves, macroeconomic data, and company/geopolitical news from the first paragraph.) US equity indexes rose as big tech, particularly the semiconductor names, got a lift after Anthropic announced its initial public offering. The Nasdaq Composite jumped 1.1% to 26,233.1, the S&P 500 advanced 0.8% to 7,683.8, and the Dow Jones Industrial Average climbed 0.2% to 52,345.4 after midday Monday. All but three sectors rose, led by technology, consumer discretionary and financials. Communication services, healthcare, and consumer staples declined. Anthropic filed with the US Securities and Exchange Commission on Monday for an initial public offering of Class A common stock on the Nasdaq Global Select Market under the symbol "ANT." Anthropic could have a market capitalization of about $1.5 trillion, down from about $2 trillion that investors expected after the company disclosed some financial details earlier this month, Reuters reported. Goldman Sachs (GS) and Morgan Stanley (MS) are the lead underwriters, according to the filing. Fifteen of the 20 top-performing stocks in a category with a market capitalization exceeding $200 billion each were technology firms, including chipmaker Arm (ARM), according to Finviz-compiled data. The biggest gainer in this category was Tesla (TSLA), with shares surging 6.6% after the company said in a social media post on X that Latvia has authorized the electric vehicle manufacturer's full self-driving (supervised) system in the Eastern European nation. Goldman Sachs and Morgan Stanley were among the outperformers, up 2.3% and 2.6%, respectively. Meta Platforms (META) launched two concurrent offerings worth about $35 billion, including $22.5 billion of class A common stock and $12.5 billion of depositary shares representing convertible preferred stock. This comes as SpaceX (SPCX) is pricing its bonds at up to 8.75% for a $40 billion private credit borrowing, Semafor reported Monday, citing an unnamed source familiar with the matter. Meanwhile, JetBlue Airways (JBLU) shares sank more than 12% amid growing scrutiny over how the US airline plans to shore up its finances, Bloomberg reported. If fuel prices remain high, JetBlue may need to shift from cash-burning to regularly generating cash, Bloomberg Intelligence Analyst George Ferguson said. The regional repercussions of a US-Israeli attack on Iran are being discussed among senior officials from Saudi Arabia, Pakistan, and Turkey during a meeting in Tehran, Al Jazeera, a Middle Eastern broadcaster, reported. President Donald Trump has said the decision -- deal or 'finish it off' -- is nearing on Iran, Bloomberg reported. The front-month West Texas Intermediate crude oil contract slipped 0.9% to $102.34 per barrel, and global benchmark Brent edged down 0.2% to $116.50 per barrel. Most US Treasury yields rose during midday trading. The two-year yield rose three basis points to 4.71%, and the 10-year rate slipped one basis point to 4.98%. Gold futures rose 0.8% to $4,040.60, and silver futures edged up 0.6% to $54.27. In economic news, the Chicago Federal Reserve Bank's monthly National Activity Index improved to 0.07 in September from minus 0.08 in August, versus an expected worsening to minus 0.10 in a survey compiled by Bloomberg. The Dallas Fed's monthly manufacturing index rose to 13.4 in October from 9.8 in September, versus the forecast for a decline to 8.8.
