Dolomite Adds $100 Million in Bitcoin Collateral Held at BitGo

  • Approximately $100 million represents supplied collateral, not the amount borrowed.
  • Only Concrete can operate the managed borrowing position.
  • Liquidations require offchain custody settlement, exposing lenders to delays.

Dolomite has added roughly $100 million in Bitcoin-backed BTCcx collateral, with borrowing live following an October 19 announcement. Concrete says each token represents Bitcoin held one-to-one at BitGo.

The arrangement lets Concrete access liquidity while the underlying coins remain in qualified custody during normal operations, linking institutional holdings with an onchain borrowing position.

Dolomite adds Bitcoin collateral through managed borrowing

Concrete issues BTCcx on Ethereum through its AssetCX architecture, which uses standardized ERC-4626 vault shares. This format allows compatible protocols to recognize the tokenized position.

Access remains restricted. Dolomite documentation says only Concrete can issue these assets and operate with them on the protocol. BTCcx serves as collateral and cannot itself be borrowed.

The $100 million figure measures supplied collateral rather than outstanding loans. The announcement did not disclose how much debt the position supports.

Concrete and BitGo began their partnership in June 2026, developing infrastructure for assets held in qualified custody. The Bitcoin deployment follows an earlier integration involving WLFIcx, another asset issued through the same model.

For institutions, the structure offers borrowing capacity without an upfront sale of their Bitcoin. Lenders, meanwhile, depend on Concrete’s management and BitGo’s custody arrangements alongside the protocol’s smart contracts.

Dolomite liquidations depend on offchain custody settlement

Borrowed funds generally enter yield-bearing strategies that Concrete can unwind for repayment. Falling collateral prices can require partial repayments to restore the position’s health, according to the documentation.

Forced liquidation requires an additional settlement process. A temporary claim token represents collateral while the underlying asset passes through offchain custody redemption.

Proceeds then return onchain to repay debt, closing the temporary claim. Unlike standard onchain liquidations, those steps cannot finish within the same transaction.

That delay matters because market prices can change before settlement completes. Qualified custody does not eliminate collateral price risk or guarantee that liquidation proceeds will cover outstanding debt.

Dolomite uses the underlying asset’s Chainlink price feed for these positions. Its documentation still marks the settlement contracts as “Coming soon,” leaving that implementation detail unresolved in the published material.
