AI Boom Boosts Fortunes of Several Tech Leaders as Elon Musk Leads Gains, BestBrokers.com Says

03:24 PM EDT, 10/21/2026 (MT Newswires) -- The artificial intelligence boom has boosted the net worth of several technology company leaders, with Tesla (TSLA) and SpaceX (SPCX) Chief Executive Elon Musk seeing the biggest increase over the last 12 months, BestBrokers.com reported Wednesday, citing Forbes data. Musk's wealth surged past $1 trillion following SpaceX's record-breaking initial public offering in June, making him the world's first trillionaire, BestBrokers.com's analysis showed. His net worth jumped by $530.9 billion in the 12 months to Oct. 12. SpaceX's shares have advanced 37% in the past three months, while those of Tesla are down 12% over the past year. "SpaceX is no longer simply a space company," Saxo Bank Investment Strategist Ruben Dalfovo said in a note Wednesday. "It is becoming a sprawling infrastructure and technology business, with very different sources of growth, profits and risk." Amazon (AMZN) and Blue Origin founder Jeff Bezos ranked second on the list of people with the biggest wealth gains in a year, at $151.1 billion, BestBrokers.com said. Dell (DELL) CEO Michael Dell was third on that list as demand for the company's AI servers sent the company's shares to record highs, the report showed. Michael Dell added $139.4 billion to his net worth in the year to Oct. 12. Dell's share price has soared 223% over the past 12 months. Google co founders Larry Page and Sergey Brin's fortunes increased by $90.6 billion and $81.9 billion, respectively, driven by Alphabet's (GOOG, GOOGL) AI-related momentum. Nvidia (NVDA) CEO Jensen Huang's net worth increased by $39.4 billion, the seventh biggest wealth boost, BestBrokers.com said. "The AI boom has not only transformed the tech industry, but also the net worths of countless founders and CEOs whose companies supply it," BestBrokers.com said. But it wasn't all about winners as some shed significant chunks of their net worth over the past 12 months. Oracle (ORCL) co-founder and Chief Technology Officer Larry Ellison saw the largest one-year net worth decline, at $168.9 billion, bringing his wealth down to $183.5 billion as of Oct. 12. "Oracle has bet heavily on building data centers for AI, but soaring spending and mounting debt have spooked investors," BestBrokers.com said. AppLovin (APP) co-founder and CEO Adam Foroughi's net worth halved, while Arista Networks (ANET) cofounder and early Google investor, David Cheriton, saw his fortune drop by $9.1 billion in a year. Moderna (MRNA) CEO Stephane Bancel was among the billionaires whose fortunes grew the fastest in percentage terms. With a 500% jump in net worth to $7.2 billion, Bancel ranked fourth on that list.
