Visa Starts AI Agent Pilot for Business Payments, Adds Fraud Prevention Tools

MT newswireMT newswire2026/10/21 12:19
08:19 AM EDT, 10/21/2026 (MT Newswires) -- Visa (V) said Wednesday it began a live pilot letting artificial intelligence agents help complete business invoice payments and launched a set of tools to prevent fraud in commercial virtual card transactions. The pilot runs with Bill and Billtrust and uses tokenized credentials instead of shared supplier portal logins to confirm an agent is authorized to act and that each transaction follows business controls, the company said. The fraud suite is made up of Visa Commercial Supplier Validation to verify payments reach the right supplier, Visa Commercial Virtual Authentication to confirm users, and Visa Commercial Payment Controls to set spending, merchant, and location limits, Visa said. The company also said it launched SESA 2.0, an upgrade to its supplier spend analytics using AI scoring to spot suppliers most likely to accept commercial cards, with two of the three fraud tools going on wide release in 2027.

The outlook for AI trading is being reassessed, reshaping global asset allocation. The yen appreciated 0.3% against the US dollar to 157.68, and the Swiss franc rose 0.2%. Safe-haven buying emerged as oil prices surged due to an attack in Saudi Arabia. The future direction will depend on which theme dominates: inflationary pressures or a cooling in AI trading.
