NVIDIA (NVDA.US) has announced that, using 8,192 GPUs from Germany's JUPITER supercomputer, it has successfully simulated a 104-qubit fault-tolerant quantum computing system and verified a technique called "magic state distillation." NVIDIA states that this technology could potentially reduce the number of physical qubits required for fault-tolerant quantum computing by about 90%, and this simulation has shortened calculations that originally would have taken weeks to just a few days. This development helps researchers to test and optimize quantum computer designs in advance, though there are still technical challenges before practical application can be achieved.

He reiterated respect for the Federal Reserve’s independence, saying that Waller would “do what he believes is right.” He also noted that people are optimistic about the U.S. economy and that consumption is increasing.
