Lilly's Foundayo Gets Positive EU Recommendation for Weight Management, Diabetes

07:13 AM EDT, 10/16/2026 (MT Newswires) -- Eli Lilly (LLY) received a positive recommendation from the European Medicines Agency, or EMA, for its oral GLP-1 drug Foundayo for weight management and treatment of type 2 diabetes in adults, the EMA said Friday. The EMA said patients in weight-loss trials lost about 5% to 11% of their body weight over 72 weeks, compared with 2% to 2.5% with placebo. The drug also reduced HbA1c levels by 1.2 to 1.9 percentage points in diabetes studies. The European Commission will make the final decision on EU marketing authorization, the watchdog said.
