Michael Saylor Predicts a $100,000 Bitcoin Price as Strategy Builds Up Its BTC Holdings to 848,250 Coins
Strategy (MSTR) executive chairman Michael Saylor stated during an interview with Bloomberg Television that Bitcoin (BTC-USD) has established a market bottom and will return above $100,000. At the time of his remarks on Wednesday, Bitcoin traded at $81,142, marking a 2.7% daily decline. Shares of Strategy fell 5.87% at yesterday’s close and dropped an additional 2.01% to $140.36 during pre-market trading on Thursday.
Saylor noted that Bitcoin dipped briefly below its 200-week moving average earlier in the cycle, but now trades 25% above that technical benchmark. Year-to-date in 2026, Bitcoin has declined roughly 5.7%, matching Strategy’s 5.7% decline.
Michael Saylor Forecasts 20% Annual Bitcoin Growth
Saylor outlined an optimistic forecast for Bitcoin’s price, telling Bloomberg Television that Strategy’s “long-term forecast is Bitcoin grows 20%-30% a year over the next twenty years.” Saylor attributed previous price declines over the past twelve months to restrictive monetary policy and trade rules.

Saylor stated that clearer government rules and more banks working with crypto are helping push the coin higher. He pointed to digital loan systems as a major reason for the price rebound. He explained: “We’ve got the formation of and the strengthening of digital credit networks and, of course, banking credit coming online, and all these things are very auspicious for the asset.”
Under this model, businesses keep Bitcoin on their books and sell dollar bonds to raise cash. Bringing in standard bank loans lets large money managers earn interest backed by digital assets. Saylor noted that Bitcoin’s price bounce from under $60,000 back into the $80,000 range proves the twelve-month market slump has ended.
Strategy Has Purchased 250 More BTC Coins
Strategy bought 250 more Bitcoin for $21.5 million between October 5 and October 11, paying an average price of $86,194 each. That was the company’s smallest purchase of 2026.
The purchase brings Strategy’s total holdings to 848,250 Bitcoin. Company filings show it has spent $64 billion buying those coins, which comes to an average cost of $75,444 per coin. Saylor told Bloomberg that trading between cash, debt, stock, and Bitcoin is just regular business for the company to make money across financial markets.
Strategy Is Issuing Equity to Fund Acquisitions
To pay for the latest 250 Bitcoin, Strategy sold 125,183 shares of its stock to raise $21 million during the week ending October 9. Strategy combined this money with its existing cash to complete the purchase.
Strategy’s filings show that Saylor’s firm holds $640.5 million in dollar reserves, along with a separate $4.88 billion reserve set aside to pay its upcoming debt and dividend bills.
Strategy Repurchases $192.4 Million in Preferred Shares
During the same week, Strategy spent $192.4 million to buy back 1.9 million shares of its STRC preferred stock. This stock buyback cost nine times more than the $21.5 million the company spent on Bitcoin over the same period.
Buying back these preferred shares means Strategy will pay less in future cash dividends to investors. Saylor defended these capital moves, telling Bloomberg, “If we were to take the position that we will never sell the equity or we will never sell the capital or we will never sell the credit, we actually degrade the value of the company.” Strategy continues to balance selling stock to pay off debt and buying Bitcoin to manage its finances.
Is Strategy Stock a Good Buy?
Currently, Wall Street has a Strong Buy consensus rating on Strategy stock (MSTR) based on 13 Buys and one Hold rating issued in the last three months. The average MSTR stock price target of $226.29 indicates about 58% upside potential. (See MSTR stock forecast)
