Ripple CEO Drops Truth Bomb On XRP’s Legal Clarity
Ripple CEO Brad Garlinghouse appeared live at Nasdaq on October 14, alongside the Evernorth closing bell ceremony.
Garlinghouse Speaks on Regulatory Clarity
Garlinghouse acknowledged the legislative setback. “The CLARITY Act not passing was definitely, it stung,” he said. “I was bummed for sure. I personally invested a lot of energy in that.” He did not stop there, though. He pointed to existing legal clarity as a foundation that stands regardless of congressional progress.
“A federal judge wrote in her opinion that XRP is not a security,” Garlinghouse stated. That ruling, he argued, already delivers what much of the CLARITY Act sought to provide for XRP specifically. He added that the SEC and CFTC have moved into rulemaking to fill the regulatory gaps the bill was meant to address.
On the question of future regulatory risk, Garlinghouse acknowledged it exists but suggested the current trajectory is difficult to reverse. “There’s a lot of water under the bridge with the years that go by that I think you can’t really put that back,” he said. As the interviewer put it, “You can’t put the genie back in the bottle.”
Evernorth’s Nasdaq Debut Adds Weight to the Moment
The interview took place against a significant backdrop. Evernorth, the XRP treasury company backed by Ripple and other institutional investors, rang the Nasdaq closing bell on October 14 under the ticker XRPN. The company holds approximately 473 million XRP and raised over $1 billion through its merger with Armada Acquisition Corp. II.
It now stands as the largest pure-play XRP treasury on a public exchange. Garlinghouse’s appearance at Nasdaq the same day as that ceremony reinforced the growing institutional presence around XRP.
Mixed Reactions from the Community
Institutional capital now has a regulated, transparent vehicle for XRP exposure. The regulatory foundation exists. The question the community continues to ask is when that foundation produces visible results.
