NVIDIA (NVDA.US) CEO Jensen Huang stated in Paris on Tuesday that the company plans to announce an additional $2 billion investment in Europe within the next week. Together with the $8 billion already invested in Europe over the past year, NVIDIA will further expand its local footprint. Jensen Huang’s European trip will also include stops in London and Berlin. He also announced a new round of funding for four French startups: medical technology company Doctolib, robotics company Genesis AI, business software company Pigment, and Entalpic, which leverages artificial intelligence for research in chemistry and materials. In response to growing concerns in European society about AI safety risks and data center energy consumption, Huang opposed slowing the development of AI, suggesting that artificial intelligence can drive economic growth and can be developed safely. He also emphasized that open-source models can help Europe narrow the AI technology gap with the United States, noting that open-source models can be customized to meet various linguistic and technical needs. Jensen Huang stated that Europe must accelerate its participation in the artificial intelligence race.
