MT newswire2026/10/08 15:0511:05 AM EDT, 10/08/2026 (MT Newswires) -- European equities traded in the US as American depositary receipts fell late Thursday morning with the S&P Europe Select ADR Index declining 0.3% to 1,870.68. From continental Europe, the gainers were led by petroleum refiner Equinor (EQNR) and oil and gas company Eni (E), which increased 3.1% and 3%, respectively. They were followed by medical device maker EDAP TMS (FOCL) and brewing company Anheuser-Busch InBev (BUD), which advanced 2.9% and 2.8%, respectively. The decliners from continental Europe were led by biopharmaceutical companies argenx (ARGX) and Cellectis (CLLS), which shed 14% and 3.7%, respectively. They were followed by telecommunications company Nokia (NOK) and biotech firm BioNTech (BNTX), which dropped 3.2% and 3%, respectively. The gainers from the UK and Ireland were led by oil and gas companies BP (BP) and Shell (SHEL), which rose 3.7% and 3.4%, respectively. They were followed by biopharmaceutical company Mereo BioPharma Group (MREO) and educational publisher Pearson (PSO), which were up 3.2% and 2%, respectively. The decliners from the UK and Ireland were led by biotech firm Trinity Biotech (TRIB) and biopharmaceutical company Biodexa Pharmaceuticals (BDRX), which lost 7.7% and 5.5%, respectively. They were followed by pharmaceutical company Silence Therapeutics (SLN) and biotech firm Autolus Therapeutics (AUTL), which dropped 5% and 3.6%, respectively.
