Market Chatter: Aurora Innovation Gets US Waiver for Self-Driving Truck Warning Devices
MT newswire2026/10/08 08:3104:31 AM EDT, 10/08/2026 (MT Newswires) -- Aurora Innovation (AUR) has received a five-year exemption from US rules requiring drivers to place warning devices around stopped trucks, allowing its autonomous vehicles to use cab-mounted warning beacons instead, Reuters reported Wednesday. The exemption also applies to other autonomous trucking companies and allows the beacons to be used in place of reflective triangles placed outside a stopped truck, the report said. Aurora and Alphabet's (GOOG, GOOGL) Waymo jointly sought the waiver, Reuters reported. Companies using the exemption must notify the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration beforehand and report crashes involving vehicles while the beacons are activated or should have been activated, according to the report. Aurora Innovation did not immediately respond to MT Newswires' request for comment. (Market Chatter news is derived from conversations with market professionals globally.
