Dogecoin (DOGE) faced renewed resistance near the $0.098 level after briefly reaching a high of approximately $0.0976 on October 2, according to data from CoinCodex. The price then settled close to $0.093, holding steady around that mark through October 4 as trading ranged between $0.0926 and $0.0935.
DOGE struggles below $0.098 as whales accumulate 1.14 billion coins
Key resistance holds amid whale accumulation
This technical rejection underscores $0.098 as a critical ceiling for DOGE in the short term. Despite recent recoveries, momentum has stalled before bulls could reclaim the $0.098 to $0.10 zone. Many analysts see this price cluster as necessary for initiating a fresh upward trend.
Approximately 28 billion DOGE have previously exchanged hands near $0.098, leading to heavy selling pressure when price attempts to revisit this area. This concentration of holders may increase the likelihood of profit-taking once the price pushes upward toward the resistance.
Nevertheless, major investors have continued to accumulate DOGE in anticipation of a breakout. On-chain data indicates that large holders, often referred to as whales, amassed over 1.14 billion DOGE—worth about $112 million at the time—even as the token approached resistance levels.
Even while DOGE traded just shy of a major resistance, whales accumulated over 1.14 billion tokens, signalling sustained institutional interest.
Coinpaper’s recent outlook for Dogecoin also pointed to $0.10 as a pivotal breakout point, with subsequent upside targets near $0.11 and $0.12 if the bulls manage to clear resistance decisively.
Institutional inflows and market outlook
Alongside whale activity, U.S.-based investment products linked to Dogecoin also saw an uptick in demand. Net weekly inflows reached $2.9 million—reportedly the highest weekly total for DOGE funds during the latest market move.
Despite ongoing accumulation among large holders and rising institutional interest, buying momentum has so far failed to drive a breakout above key resistance.
Dogecoin now trades near a support area between $0.092 and $0.093. Market observers suggest the coin’s next direction will depend on whether this level holds under continued pressure. If sellers drive the price below $0.09, the technical structure could weaken further, potentially exposing DOGE to a deeper decline.
