Nvidia and SoftBank have fulfilled their commitments to invest $30 billion each in OpenAI

According to a report by The Information citing people familiar with the matter and a statement from SoftBank, NVIDIA (NVDA.US) and SoftBank have each completed the final $10 billion investment of the last funding round for OpenAI, fulfilling their respective $30 billion investment commitments. In March this year, OpenAI disclosed that this round of funding received commitments totaling $122 billion, with a post-investment valuation of $852 billion. Amazon (AMZN.US) previously pledged to invest up to $50 billion and completed the entire investment in July. With the conclusion of the latest funding round, OpenAI may be paving the way for the next round of private funding, targeting approximately $30 billion and a potential valuation of around $1.4 trillion. SoftBank stated that after completing the latest investment, its total investment in OpenAI reached $64.6 billion, holding about 13% of shares; part of the funds for the final investment came from SoftBank's $11.1 billion high-yield bond issuance completed at the end of September.
