Canada Commodities: Oil, Gold Prices Higher; Iran Receives US Response to Proposal to End War

09:56 AM EDT, 09/30/2026 (MT Newswires) -- Oil prices jumped Wednesday morning even as multiple media outlets reported that Iran had received an official US response to its most recent proposal to end the war. Tehran gave no indication of the contents of the US response, the reports said. West Texas Intermediate November crude oil futures, the US benchmark, advanced 2% to $91.16 per barrel. November Brent oil futures, the international benchmark, edged up 0.9% to $103.61 a barrel. Comex gold December futures climbed 1.1% to $4,222.80 per ounce. In agricultural commodities, December wheat futures advanced 0.7% to $6.97 per bushel, while canola futures for November were 1.9% higher, to CA$827.30 per tonne.
