Huntington Ingalls Industries Awarded $5.1 Billion Contract for USS Truman Refueling, Overhaul

05:41 PM EDT, 09/29/2026 (MT Newswires) -- Huntington Ingalls Industries (HII) said Tuesday its Newport News Shipbuilding division was awarded a $5.1 billion contract for the refueling and complex overhaul of the nuclear-powered aircraft carrier USS Harry S. Truman, CVN 75. The contract includes options that, if exercised, would take its cumulative value to about $5.18 billion, the company said. The work will include refueling the ship's reactors, modernization across most ship systems and major upgrades to the propulsion plant and combat systems, according to a statement.
