Sector Update: Healthcare Stocks Softer Late Afternoon

03:56 PM EDT, 09/29/2026 (MT Newswires) -- Healthcare stocks were lower late Tuesday afternoon, with the NYSE Healthcare Index decreasing 0.6% and the State Street Health Care Select Sector SPDR ETF (XLV) down 0.4%. The iShares Biotechnology ETF (IBB) was up 0.1%. In corporate news, Summit Therapeutics (SMMT) shares rose past 6% after AstraZeneca (AZN) agreed to invest $2 billion in the clinical-stage oncology company and collaborate on trials combining their experimental cancer drugs. AstraZeneca shares were shedding 1%. UniQure (QURE) shares fell 36% after the firm said additional data from its phase 1/2 trials of AMT-130 in Huntington's disease showed less pronounced benefits at 48 months. Iovance Biotherapeutics (IOVA) shares surged 32% after it raised its full-year 2026 revenue guidance to $410 million to $420 million from $350 million to $370 million previously. STAAR Surgical (STAA) shares rose past 7% after Stifel upgraded the stock to buy from hold and raised its price target to $31 from $28.
