Sector Update: Healthcare Stocks Decline Tuesday Afternoon

01:40 PM EDT, 09/29/2026 (MT Newswires) -- Healthcare stocks retreated Tuesday afternoon, with the NYSE Healthcare Index falling 0.9% and the State Street Health Care Select Sector SPDR ETF (XLV) down 0.8%. The iShares Biotechnology ETF (IBB) was 0.4% lower. In corporate news, Summit Therapeutics (SMMT) shares rose past 5% after AstraZeneca (AZN) agreed to invest $2 billion in the clinical-stage oncology company and collaborate on trials combining their experimental cancer drugs. AstraZeneca shares were shedding 1.1%. H Lundbeck has been working with advisers to explore acquiring Xeris Biopharma (XERS), Bloomberg reported. Xeris shares were down 0.3%. UniQure (QURE) shares fell 38% after the company said additional data from its ongoing phase 1/2 studies of AMT-130 in Huntington's disease showed less pronounced benefits at 48 months. Iovance Biotherapeutics (IOVA) shares surged 36% after it raised its full-year 2026 revenue guidance to $410 million to $420 million from $350 million to $370 million previously.
