Reuters London, September 29 - BP BP.L announced through a spokesperson on Tuesday that former JPMorgan banker Ben Monaghan has been appointed as Senior Vice President of Mergers and Acquisitions and Business Development, effective from early 2027.
Meg O’Neill, who took office as CEO in April this year, has made taking a more rigorous investment strategy a top priority (link), stating that decisions must be based on profitability, cash flow generation, and market realities. As part of efforts to improve profitability, the group has been advancing asset divestitures.
Since 2022, Sam Skeri has led BP’s M&A business, until succeeding Carol Hall as head of supply, trading, and shipping in August this year (link).
Monaghan was previously CFO of Genel GENL.L, a company focused on the Kurdistan region of Iraq, and is now a partner at investment bank PJT Partners’ Strategic Advisory Group, specializing in the global energy sector and energy deals.
According to the PJT website and LinkedIn, he previously worked at JPMorgan for 20 years, where he led the bank’s energy investment banking team for Europe, the Middle East, and Africa.
