Sector Update: Consumer

08:57 AM EDT, 09/29/2026 (MT Newswires) -- Consumer stocks were declining premarket Tuesday, with the State Street Consumer Staples Select Sector SPDR ETF (XLP) down 0.5% and the State Street Consumer Discretionary Select Sector SPDR ETF (XLY) 0.2% lower. British American Tobacco (BTI) continues to expect 2026 adjusted earnings per share growth towards the middle of its outlook range of 5% to 8% at constant exchange rates, the company said. Shares of British American Tobacco were down more than 1% pre-bell.
