07:26 AM EDT, 09/29/2026 (MT Newswires) -- Novo Nordisk's (NVO) retrospective real-world analysis showed a 6% lower risk of major adverse cardiovascular events for adults with type 2 diabetes who increased Ozempic, or semaglutide, to 2 mg versus those who switched to Eli Lilly's (LLY) Mounjaro, or tirzepatide, the company said Tuesday. The analysis covered claims data from 636,525 adults with type 2 diabetes on semaglutide 1 mg, with 36.9% escalating to 2 mg and 5.7% switching to tirzepatide at the 720-day follow up, the company said. The COMPETE SWITCH Cardiovascular study findings were presented at the European Association for the Study of Diabetes Annual Meeting in Milan. Novo said the analysis did not assess safety outcomes.
