06:57 PM EDT, 09/28/2026 (MT Newswires) -- Britain's Chancellor, John Healey, set out plans to reindustrialize the country with new investment in industry and support for apprenticeships, multiple outlets reported Monday, citing his speech to the Labour Party conference in Liverpool. Healey announced a new 100 million pound (around $130 million) fund for local mayors to boost apprenticeships, a 300 million pound investment by Rolls-Royce in British factories, and confirmed support for British shipbuilding, according to the reports. He said reforming the welfare system to get people back into work was not just an "economic must" but a "moral duty," the reports said. Healey said the core of the Budget would deliver "fiscal discipline, to give families and businesses a bit of breathing space, to drive good growth and jobs in more places," according to the reports.

She partially attributed inflationary pressures to higher oil prices caused by the Iran conflict, and expects the energy shock to subside as hostilities ease. Yellen refuted the notion of an AI bubble, arguing that investments by major tech companies are grounded in solid business logic.
