  • Indonesia, as the world's largest coal exporter, is facing difficulties in increasing production and is unable to fully benefit from rising coal prices. As countries seek alternatives to declining Gulf natural gas supplies, coal demand continues to heat up.
  • Commodity broker DBX Commodities stated that Indonesia's coal exports fell to the lowest level in five years this month, due to government reductions in coal mine quotas and low water levels in major transport rivers.
  • Meanwhile, the International Energy Agency (IEA) expects global coal consumption to reach a record high this year, mainly driven by soaring natural gas prices and high temperatures.
  • Muhammad Fadhil, Senior Vice President at Argus Media, said: "Demand is shifting towards coal, but supply remains tight. Changes in Indonesia's production and exports could have a significant impact on the global market."
