CANADA FX DEBT - Canadian dollar weakens, benchmark yield slips
Reuters2026/09/24 13:00The Canadian dollar weakened against the greenback on Thursday, and the yield on benchmark government debt slipped.
The loonie CAD= was trading 0.2% lower at C$1.412 to the greenback, or 70.82 U.S. cents, after trading in a range of 1.409 to 1.4124.
Canadian government 10-year bond yields CA10YT=RR fell 0.8 basis points to 3.946%. The yield on similar U.S. government benchmark debt fell to 5.1039%.
U.S. November crude CLc1 futures rose $1.78 to $93.94 a barrel on Thursday.
Canadian retail sales fell 0.7% in August from July. Analysts polled by Reuters had expected retail sales to drop 0.8%.Excluding autos, retail sales fell 0.7% in August, Statistics Canada said. Analysts had forecast August sales, excluding autos, to be down 0.5%.
