Canada July retail sales fall 0.7%; seen up 1.3% in August

Sept 24 (Reuters) - Canadian retail sales fell by 0.7% in July from June at C$73.70 billion ($52.25 billion), on lower sales at general merchandise retailers, Statistics Canada said on Thursday. Sales likely increased 1.3% in August, the agency said in a flash estimate. In July, sales were down in eight of nine subsectors, representing 94.6% of retail sales. In volume terms, retail sales decreased 1.1%.
