Eli Lilly's Onswik Insulin Injection Gets FDA Approval for Adults with Type 2 Diabetes

07:01 AM EDT, 09/24/2026 (MT Newswires) -- Eli Lilly (LLY) said Thursday the US Food and Drug Administration approved its once-weekly Onswik basal insulin injection treatment to control high blood sugar in adults with type 2 diabetes. The approval was based on data from Lilly's QWINT phase 3 trials, which found that a once-weekly dose of Onswik met the primary endpoint of non-inferior A1C reduction from baseline, comparable to insulin glargine U-100 or insulin degludec U-100. The company said that Onswik should not be used by people who have type 1 diabetes due to increased risk of severe hypoglycemia.
