- Affordability strain shifted to financing costs, with estimated monthly principal-and-interest payments up 74% over five years to $2,376.
- Higher mortgage rates drove the increase, with the 30-year fixed rate at 6.76% in early September versus 2.88% in August 2021.
- Rising listings, down 3.6% year over year, reduced pricing pressure as median list prices fell 1.3% for a 10th straight month.
