US Dollar Advances Against The Canadian Dollar as US 10-Year Bond Yields Top 5%

01:45 PM EDT, 09/23/2026 (MT Newswires) -- The US dollar advanced against the loonie on Wednesday afternoon, as US 10-year treasury yields topped 5%. The greenback was last seen up 0.31% to CA$1.4102, the highest level since late July. US 10-year treasury yields rose to as high as.5.139% Wednesday, the highest since 2007, lifted by higher oil prices and data showing that US business activity continued its acceleration for the fourth straight month. The S&P Global US PMI Composite Output Index advanced from 56.0 in August to 58.4 in September, the fastest expansion since July 2021, a statement said. Comex gold futures for December edged fell 1.34% to $4,318.30 per ounce. Oil prices snapped a five-day losing streak. West Texas Intermediate November futures benchmark rose 0.8% to $91.22 per barrel. November Brent crude futures jumped 3% to $102.25 per barrel.
