Royal Caribbean's Long-Term Rational Regarding Sandals Is Clear -- Market Talk
Dow Jones2026/09/23 16:131213 ET - Royal Caribbean's $3 billion deal to acquire a 50% stake in the parent company of Sandals and Beaches Resorts will understandably stoke investors' near-term concerns around diversification, Melius Research analysts Conor Cunningham and Patrick Coleman say in a research note. Royal Caribbean's stock is down 3.1% on the announcement. "But stepping back, the longer-term rationale for Royal to solidify its position in a growing travel category is clear," they continue. "Once the dust settles, we suspect more investors will focus on the case for Royal continuing to scale and further build out its already dominant position in the Caribbean, particularly given the company's track record of executing on other strategic investments."
