Canada Commodities: Oil Prices Rise Even as US And Iran Officials Talk, US Considering Diesel Ban

09:48 AM EDT, 09/23/2026 (MT Newswires) -- Oil prices were higher Wednesday morning after falling for five straight sessions even as multiple media reported US officials met with Iran's delegation to the United Nationals General Assembly meeting in New York. President Trump said the meeting lasted about three hours. The US is also reportedly weighing whether to ban exports of diesel amid high prices and tight supplies of the fuel. West Texas Intermediate November crude oil futures, the US benchmark, rose 0.8% to $91.21 per barrel. November Brent oil futures, the international benchmark, edged up 1.3% to $100.85 a barrel. Comex gold December futures fell 0.8% to $4,341.70 per ounce. In agricultural commodities, December wheat futures slipped 0.3% to $7.15 per bushel, while canola futures for November edged 0.8% lower to CA$818.10 per tonne.
