Wave Life Sciences Initiates Phase 2a Trial of Obesity Drug WVE-007 in Combination With Tirzepatide

08:03 AM EDT, 09/23/2026 (MT Newswires) -- Wave Life Sciences (WVE) initiated a phase 2a clinical trial evaluating its investigational obesity drug WVE-007 in combination with tirzepatide in adults as a treatment for obesity and other cardiometabolic indications, including MASH, the company said Wednesday. The placebo-controlled trial will evaluate 240 mg and 400 mg doses of WVE-007 alongside weekly tirzepatide in people with obesity and type 2 diabetes, the company said. Wave's Inlight clinical program also includes an ongoing phase 2a monotherapy trial with multiple assessments over 12 months, including obesity, MASH, type 2 diabetes, and cardiovascular disease, the company said. Wave remains on track to initiate a trial of WVE-007 as a maintenance therapy to preserve weight loss after discontinuing incretin treatment in H2, Wave said.
