Total Energies to Develop Nigerian Gas Field, Supply LNG Plant

03:51 AM EDT, 09/23/2026 (MT Newswires) -- TotalEnergies (TTE) will develop the Ima gas field offshore Nigeria in partnership with AMNI, the company disclosed Wednesday. Total Energiesm takes a 40% stake in the shallow-water development, while the Nigerian enterprise AMNI holds the remaining 60% stake. No other terms were disclosed. Total Energies expects the Ima field to start production in 2028, targeting a plateau of 350 million cubic feet per day, or 60,000 barrels of oil equivalent per day. The Ima field will feed gas through a pipeline to Nigeria LNG, a gas liquefaction facility 15% owned by Total Energies. The Ima field is expected to supply about one-third of the gas required for the ongoing Nigeria LNG Train 7 expansion project, which will increase the liquefaction plant capacity from 22 million tons per annum, or MTPA, to 30 MTPA, said Total Energies.
