Italy - Factors to watch on September 23

ECONOMY

Italy posted a 2025 budget deficit of 3.1% of gross domestic product, statistics bureau ISTAT said on Tuesday, confirming previous data and dashing Rome's hopes of exiting a European Union disciplinary procedure for its excessive deficit.

DEBT

Italy raised €8 billion through a new green government bond due in October 2038, the Treasury said on Tuesday, as it continued to tap investor demand for debt earmarked for environmentally sustainable projects.

Denmark's Saxo Bank completed the acquisition of a 49% stake in Bg Saxo Sim it bought from Banca Generali, Il Messaggero reported on Wednesday. BG Saxo, which started off as a joint venture between Saxo Bank and Banca Generali, will now change its name to Saxo Italia, the report added.

PIRELLI PIRC.MI

The company board approved by a majority vote a multi-year investment plan in the United States totalling about €1 billion and creating around 1,000 new jobs.

INDUSTRIE DE NORA DNR.MI/SNAM SRG.MI

Shares in Italy's Industrie De Nora slid on Tuesday after gas grid operator Snam sold a 5% stake in the electrode maker via an accelerated book-building process.

Shareholder Camfin Alternative Assets - a vehicle of Marco Tronchetti Provera - bought 3.34% of the tyre maker, bringing Italian businessman's total stake in Pirelli to 29.9%, a statement said, adding that the move "reaffirms their confidence in and commitment to supporting Pirelli's industrial project"

JUVENTUS JUVE.MI

Juventus were fined €10,000 by Serie A on Tuesday after some of their supporters interrupted a minute of silence for former Italy international Sandro Mazzola.

POSTE ITALIANE PST.MI, TELECOM ITALIA (TIM) TLIT.MI

Poste Italiane's public offer for Telecom Italia remains open through September 25.
