Cognex to Acquire RealSense for $500 Million

07:22 AM EDT, 09/22/2026 (MT Newswires) -- Cognex (CGNX) said Tuesday that it has agreed to acquire RealSense, a maker of 3D cameras and vision technology used in robotics, for $500 million. RealSense is expected to generate $80 million to $90 million in revenue in 2026, up more than 50% from the prior year, the company said. Cognex said it will fund the acquisition, expected to close in Q4, with existing cash and investments. Cognex said it also expects to provide a three-year, $56.5 million cash retention program for its employees and grant $50 million in restricted stock units. Before closing, RealSense will separate its facial authentication business into an independent company, Cognex added.
