Sector Update: Healthcare Stocks Rise in Afternoon Trading

01:50 PM EDT, 09/21/2026 (MT Newswires) -- Healthcare stocks rose Monday afternoon, with the NYSE Healthcare Index increasing 0.5% and the State Street Health Care Select Sector SPDR ETF (XLV) adding 0.7%. The iShares Biotechnology ETF (IBB) climbed up 1.1%. In corporate news, Oura and some of its shareholders plan to offer 50 million shares at $40 to $44 per share in an initial public offering, the smart ring maker said Monday. The company said Eli Lilly (LLY) has indicated an interest in buying up to $100 million of shares, and funds affiliated with Dragoneer Investment have indicated an interest in buying up to $300 million of shares. Lilly shares were up 1.2%. Novo Nordisk (NVO) shares fell past 8% after it unveiled its long-term growth targets ahead of patent expirations for semaglutide, the active ingredient in its weight loss and diabetes drugs. Separately, Novo is facing shareholder calls to develop new medicines and pursue acquisitions to lower its dependence on its popular weight-loss treatments, the Financial Times reported. Telix (TLX) said it has agreed to buy Munich-based radioisotope maker ITM Isotope Technologies for $1.65 billion in upfront consideration to strengthen its radiopharmaceutical offerings. Telix shares dropped past 9%.
