Advanced Micro Devices touched a $1 trillion market value on Monday morning, briefly adding it to a short list of chip makers whose valuations have climbed to ten figures.
The U.S.-based semiconductor company touched an all-time high valuation of $1.002 trillion earlier on Monday, according to Dow Jones Market Data. The stock was recently up 9.3% at $611.73, giving it a market capitalization just shy of ten figures.
AMD is the seventh semiconductor maker to pass the threshold, even temporarily, as the industry has rapidly grown alongside the artificial-intelligence boom.
Nvidia was the first chip maker to hit the milestone in 2023, and has a current market capitalization of around $5.43 trillion. TSMC, Samsung Electronics, and the U.S. firms Micron Technology and Broadcom all have market capitalizations in the trillions, and SK Hynix hit the threshold in May before its market value fell back into the hundreds of billions.
According to Dow Jones Market Data, 14 U.S. companies in total have surpassed the $1 trillion milestone, including many other tech names: Apple, Alphabet, Microsoft, Meta Platforms, Amazon, Tesla and SpaceX.
The other names in that group are Berkshire Hathaway, Eli Lilly, and Walmart.
