Magnachip Semiconductor Shares Jump Premarket After Navitas Investment

Magnachip Semiconductor's shares are set to jump at the opening bell after Navitas Semiconductor agreed to make a $5 million strategic investment in the designer and manufacturer of analog and mixed-signal power semiconductor platform solutions.
In premarket trading, Magnachip's shares were 15% higher at $3.16. The advance builds on the 7.8% year-to-date rise in the stock through Friday's close.
Under the terms of a privately negotiated stock purchase agreement, Magnachip said it will issue and sell almost 1.5 million of its shares to Navitas for $3.42 apiece. The transaction is expected to close on or about Thursday.
The investment builds on a partnership between Magnachip and Navitas following a deal in July to accelerate the adoption of silicon carbide technologies in high-voltage and ultra-high-voltage power markets. Under the collaboration, Magnachip is licensing Navitas technology and is gaining access to Navitas' supply chain and materials ecosystem, with plans to port, qualify and internalize the technology at Magnachip's fabrication facility in South Korea.
