Trump participated in a live call with Jensen Huang, denouncing the AI threat narrative as a scam and stating that data centers are the oil of the future. Despite Nvidia's stock price dropping due to slowdown concerns, Jensen Huang still responded to security warnings.

According to Golden Ten Data APP, NVIDIA (NVDA.US) CEO Jensen Huang took a live call from Donald Trump during a panel discussion on Monday, allowing the former U.S. president to dismiss the dangers of artificial intelligence as a "hoax."

During the call, which Huang answered on stage at the All-In Summit in Los Angeles, Trump criticized calls to slow down AI development, calling them either politically motivated or part of conspiracies by other countries. Huang expressed agreement with the president's views, saying Trump saw through the complexity of the issue.

Trump said this resistance to AI "plays right into the hands of many people who don't want to see it realized." "These people could be politicians or individuals from other countries," he added.

Despite downplaying AI risks, Huang praised an Anthropic PBC researcher who resigned out of concern over AI development. The CEO said that employee, Jacob Calkason, was brave in voicing his worries. He added that whistleblowers should be taken seriously within organizations.

However, Huang stated that such panic creates a false dichotomy between rapid innovation and AI safety.

In recent days, the potential dangers posed by AI to humanity have become a hotly debated topic. Following Calkason's resignation and claims that Anthropic and OpenAI are "gambling with our lives," calls to slow the development pace have been mounting.

On Saturday, Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei published an article proposing to slow down development, which was subsequently endorsed by OpenAI CEO Sam Altman and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk.

On Monday, U.S. tech stocks plummeted due to concerns that spending may slow down. NVIDIA, the world's most valuable company by market capitalization, saw its stock price fall by 3.4%.

NVIDIA's chips power artificial intelligence models and have been the biggest beneficiaries of large-scale AI infrastructure build-outs. Meanwhile, Trump has become a staunch advocate of data center construction, even in the face of mounting opposition.

Trump criticized U.S. states for refusing to grant permits for new data center construction. He argued that such facilities can bring wealth to people and states.

"It's the oil of the next 20 or 25 years," he said. "It's bigger than the Internet."
