XRP Will Directly Benefit from the CLARITY Act, New Document Confirms
SMQKE applied that finding directly to XRP, calling it the project best positioned to gain from the bill’s passage.
A Five-Year Legal Battle Becomes an Asset
Ripple spent almost five years in a legal dispute with the SEC over XRP. Most projects would count that as a liability. SMQKE argues the opposite. “The SEC case that once looked like a massive short-term constraint has now become one of its greatest advantages,” he wrote.
The reasoning is straightforward. XRP survived federal scrutiny that would have ended most projects. Ripple defeated the SEC in court. Very few tokens share that history. Under the CLARITY Act, that battle-tested record places XRP in a distinct position relative to other digital assets seeking regulatory legitimacy.
SMQKE described XRP as “a battle-tested, legitimate, and compliant project with proven real-world utility.” That characterization carries weight at a moment when institutional investors are evaluating tokens to find the ones that can survive a regulated environment.
The Purpose of the CLARITY Act
The CLARITY Act establishes a federal framework for digital assets. It draws a clear line between assets under SEC jurisdiction and those under CFTC jurisdiction. Assets classified as digital commodities shed the regulatory overhang of SEC enforcement. That reclassification gives altcoins a structural re-rating in the eyes of investors and the law.
XRP is already classified as a commodity, giving it an edge over many other assets. The GSR Research report noted that banks gain a clear on-ramp for custody, settlement, and tokenized asset services. For DeFi, the bill removes legal ambiguity that pushed developers and capital offshore for years. At its core, the CLARITY Act replaces regulation by enforcement with an actual statutory framework.
XRP’s Early Signal
Markets already know what passage could mean. XRP led the market reaction to the Senate committee vote, briefly clearing $1.54 before settling back down. That move came before the bill reached the floor. Full passage would carry significantly more weight.
SMQKE pointed to that reaction as evidence of what is coming. The cloture vote on September 15 is the first public test. If the Senate reaches 60 votes, experts anticipate a swift upward move. Following that, formal debate begins, and the CLARITY Act moves closer to becoming law.
