Former LPL Financial Boss Dan Arnold Joins Wealthtech Firm -- Barrons.com

Dan Arnold, the former CEO of LPL Financial who was ousted for unspecified reasons, has taken a role as executive chairman of the board at Stirlingshire Investments, a New York-based wealth manager and technology provider.
Stirlingshire says that Arnold will "serve in an active leadership role" with the company, working directly with CEO Steven Woods and the rest of the leadership team, advancing the company's advisor-recruiting efforts, partnerships with outside firms, and other strategic initiatives.
"Dan's reputation, leadership experience, and relationships are unparalleled in our industry," says Woods, Stirlingshire's founder. "He has spent his career helping advisors build successful businesses, and his decision to join Stirlingshire is a powerful validation of both our platform and our vision."
LPL's board fired Arnold in 2024 for having allegedly made statements to employees that violated the company's code of conduct. LPL never said what, exactly, Arnold was accused of saying, and the company reached a settlement in December 2024 that allowed Arnold to keep what at the time was $12 million worth of LPL stock.
Stirlingshire says that Arnold will join a "multidisciplinary" leadership team that includes professionals with backgrounds in financial services, technology, law, and other fields. Woods previously had stints at State Street and the London Stock Exchange Group, and founded Stirlingshire in 2020. Candice Gilman, Stirlingshire's chief compliance officer, previously held the same role at SoFi Wealth. She joined Stirlingshire in August.
Scott Friedman, the former president and chief compliance officer at Robinhood Financial and Robinhood Securities, sits on Stirlingshire's board.
Stirlingshire operates as both a technology vendor and a wealth manager. The firm reported just under $180 million in assets under management on its most recent Form ADV regulatory filing, with most of those assets held by high-net-worth individuals. Stirlingshire is also registered as a brokerage firm.
