Uber, WeRide Get Operating Permit for Level 4 Autonomous Passenger Vehicles in Spain

05:28 AM EDT, 09/10/2026 (MT Newswires) -- Uber Technologies (UBER), WeRide (WRD), and Moove Cars Group unit AVOMO have received a permit for level 4 autonomous passenger vehicles to operate on public roads in Spain, the companies said Thursday. The move allows the companies to start deployment preparation activities, including mapping and route validation, with the initial phase to deploy 20 vehicles. Commercial operations in that market are expected to begin by the end of the year, the companies said.
