Shiba Inu’s layer-2 blockchain, Shibarium, has recorded a 122% surge in daily transaction volume, despite ongoing technical maintenance on its block explorer platform.
Shibarium daily transactions jump 122% as explorer reindexing continues
Escalating transaction activity
Between September 6 and September 8, 2026, Shibarium’s daily transaction count climbed from 786 to 1,750, according to data from Shibariumscan. This sharp increase followed a period of significantly lowered network activity the previous week.
The substantial uptick points to renewed activity on the blockchain. However, users have been urged to interpret these figures cautiously due to infrastructure updates that could affect the reported data.
Shibariumscan’s homepage displays a notice stating that indexing is still underway. The explorer currently shows, “51% Blocks Indexed—We are currently indexing this chain. Some of the counts may be inaccurate.” This means transaction and block counts displayed during the reindexing phase may not fully reflect real-time network performance.
Ongoing infrastructure overhaul
Shibarium’s infrastructure overhaul began in late 2025. The project has undertaken substantial server upgrades and a comprehensive chain reindexing process.
During the initial stages of reindexing, the Shibarium explorer displayed a considerable lag in block and transaction counts, underreporting the actual processed network data. This reindexing effort aims to rebuild the explorer’s database to provide a complete and accurate record of Shibarium’s blockchain history.
The figures you see during the reindexing phase may not be indicative of actual activity on the blockchain, as 51% of blocks have been indexed and some counts may still be inaccurate.

This week, Besant made high-profile calls to suppress yen short positions and raised the US Treasury repo limit to $6 billion. As a result, the yen strengthened, but US Treasuries declined—10-year yields hit their highest level since October 2023, and 30-year yields approached a twenty-year peak. Analysts noted that the combination of a stronger yen and rising US Treasury yields is simultaneously impacting carry trades and stock valuations, posing a dual threat to the US stock market bull run. This is described as "the greatest risk facing the bull market."

A Goldman Sachs research report ignited the storage sector, with SK Hynix soaring 7% on the US stock market in a single day to a record high. Micron and SanDisk also rose in tandem, outperforming the broader market. Goldman Sachs pointed out that a technical breakout in the storage sector, combined with low hedge fund positions, has shifted the "pain trade" direction upward. However, on the same day, the CEO of Kioxia poured cold water on the rally, stating bluntly that NAND "prices have risen enough." Amid this tug-of-war between bulls and bears, Micron's September 30 earnings report will be a key deciding factor.
