  1. Japan plans to replenish its national strategic oil reserves, which were used due to the US-Iran conflict. The Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry has allocated 385 billion yen for crude oil procurement for the fiscal year starting in April next year.
  2. Japan responded to the crisis by tapping into reserve stocks and turning to alternative supply sources. Before the Middle East conflict, over 90% of Japan's crude oil imports came from the Middle East, making the country highly vulnerable to supply disruptions.
  3. Following the release of reserves, as of September 6, Japan's strategic oil reserve could meet domestic demand for 103 days, compared to 146 days before the conflict.
