- Trump posted on social media, threatening to ban the sale of Bombardier airplanes in the US market. He demanded that if the company wishes to continue accessing the US market, it must establish manufacturing plants within the United States. He also accused Canada of restricting US banks and businesses, as well as hindering Gulfstream Aerospace’s operations in Canada.
- Bombardier is a leading Canadian enterprise, contributing over 7 billion Canadian dollars to Canada's GDP annually. The company responded by stating that it contributes to the US aviation industry, creating tens of thousands of jobs in the US.
- Several hours after the threat was issued, Canada officially implemented retaliatory tariffs on US goods on Tuesday, covering commodities worth nearly 28 billion Canadian dollars.
- The US and Canada are each other’s largest global trading partners, with total bilateral trade approaching 900 billion US dollars.
