France's current account deficit widened to 4.7 billion euros in July, marking the largest shortfall since 2023

⑴ France's seasonally adjusted current account deficit widened from an upwardly revised €1.6 billion in June to €4.7 billion in July, marking the largest shortfall since January 2023. ⑵ The goods trade deficit grew from €5.2 billion in June to €6.8 billion, while the services trade surplus narrowed from €5.3 billion to €3.8 billion, serving as the main drag factor. ⑶ The primary income surplus edged down from €3.4 billion to €3.3 billion, and the secondary income deficit remained steady at €5 billion. ⑷ In the first seven months of this year, France's cumulative current account deficit was €12 billion, compared with €18.2 billion in the same period last year.
