Glonghui, September 8th | According to a statement previously released by the Canadian federal government, Canada's retaliatory tariffs against the United States of equivalent scale will officially take effect on September 8th local time. On August 25th, the Canadian federal government announced that it would impose retaliatory tariffs on US goods worth 27.6 billion Canadian dollars, equivalent to about 20 billion US dollars, covering sectors such as steel and aluminum, dairy products, household appliances, and agricultural equipment. In fact, the US and Canadian economies are closely connected, and a trade war not only increases cross-border trade costs but also undermines confidence in related industries. The automotive industry is one of the sectors most affected by the US-Canada trade war. In Michigan, USA, the operating costs of local car manufacturers and auto parts companies have risen significantly, while profits have dropped markedly. Michigan is a major hub for the US automotive industry and has close ties to Ontario's automotive sector in Canada. Currently, Michigan is under significant pressure from tariff policies and the ongoing trade war. Workers in Michigan's automotive industry are also feeling the negative impact of these tariff policies.
