Alex Jones Warns XRP Holders: Government Could Seize Your XRP Holdings

TimesTabloidTimesTabloid2026/09/07 08:06

Alex Jones is currently addressing a claim about the U.S. government’s ability to seize XRP during a live broadcast on X, after promoting what he called a “chilling FDIC admission.” The claim has already drawn pushback from members of the XRP community, including an XRP Ledger validator who challenged the premise.

Jones Discusses Alleged FDIC Admission

Jones promoted the live broadcast on X, telling followers that he would discuss the alleged FDIC admission concerning the government’s ability to seize XRP. The broadcast also covers other topics, including gas prices, a fired game show announcer, and President Donald Trump’s executive orders concerning beef.

Jones’s original post did not provide the specific FDIC document or statement behind the XRP claim. As of publication, no public FDIC statement or filing specifically confirming that the agency has said the government can seize privately held XRP has been identified.

The claim has nevertheless gotten attention from the XRP Army, with several commenters questioning Jones’s understanding of the asset and the XRP Ledger.

XRPL Validator Challenges Seizure Premise

Vet, a validator on the XRP Ledger, shared a clip from the discussion and directly challenged the claim surrounding self-custodied XRP.

Vet also addressed the possibility of governments censoring transactions on the XRP Ledger. He pointed to the network’s open-source architecture and decentralized consensus mechanism, explaining that the ledger does not operate under a single authority.

The response highlights the distinction between government action against centralized intermediaries and direct control over assets held through self-custody. Authorities can impose regulations or legal requirements on exchanges and custodians, but that does not automatically give them control of privately held assets on a decentralized network.

Audience Questions Jones’s Claims

For now, the specific FDIC claim remains unverified. Jones is discussing the matter during the ongoing live broadcast, but the document or official statement supporting the alleged admission has not been publicly established.
