The Hungarian government says it has met the conditions to unlock 10 billion euros of EU funds.

Hungarian Minister of Transport and Investment Dávid Vitézy stated on August 31 that Hungary has completed all legislative and institutional adjustments necessary to unfreeze approximately €10 billion of European Union funds. Vitézy said at a press conference held in Budapest on the same day that the Hungarian government has fully accomplished all the targets agreed upon this May by Prime Minister Viktor Orbán and European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen. During this period, Hungary passed over 100 pieces of legislation, established new institutions, and launched or completed multiple key projects, most of which focused on implementing the EU’s required anti-corruption measures. He added that the Hungarian government plans to prioritize the use of these unfrozen funds for railway modernization, construction of affordable housing and student dormitories, water resource management projects, as well as investment in renewable energy and power grids.
